Asian Energy Studies Centre (AESC) and Geography Department organised “Hong Kong x Foshan x Seoul Online Sharing Workshop – Women and Low-carbon energy community” on 9 Mar 2021

The “Hong Kong x Foshan x Seoul Online Sharing Workshop – Women and Low-carbon energy community” was successfully held on 9th Mar 2021. We were fortunate to invite 23 women’s representatives from three Asian cities (Hong Kong, Foshan and Seoul) to share views on low carbon engagement. The women’s representatives were guided by HKBU student moderators to discuss the following topics, which include (1) the community needs to develop energy initiatives and solar generation, (2) the obstacles to adopt energy-saving and renewable energy initiatives  in communities, (3) the good practices of community-based energy collaboration.

This workshop was a cross-city cross-institutional initiative between the AESC and Department of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), School of Communication and Design at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), and School of Humanities and Social Science at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). We are very pleased to receive funding support from the HKBU’s Centre for Innovative Service-Learning (CISL). It provided unique learning opportunities for students in two energy courses: GEOG 4016 (Sustainable Energy and Technological Innovation in China) and GEOG 4065 (Energy Policy and Analysis).
