Energy Research Seminar Series
The energy research seminar series aims to facilitate discussion and ideas exchange among different stakeholders to promote a sustainable energy future for Hong Kong. With recent discussions over energy mix and future energy supply, updates on sustainable energy technologies, policy and application experiences from other cities on sustainable energy, the proposed seminar series will provide new perspectives in moving towards a green energy future for Hong Kong. Seminars will cover diverse topics, such as smart grids, renewable energy, demand-side-management, nuclear power, green buildings, energy stakeholder/consumer engagement, electricity market reforms, energy pricing, and business model innovation.

Abstract: Under the auspices of the Council for Sustainable Development, a series of public engagement activities on the formulation of a long-term decarbonization strategy in Hong Kong has just been completed. Why do we need such a strategic plan? What the future has in store for us? How much time do we have? What tools do we have to achieve our goals? This talk will try to address those questions, present the current and projected state of the climate, and touches upon some core issues of the challenge, namely from the dimension of justice and governance.
